FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING MY FIRST ACUPUNCTURE OR DRY NEEDLING SESSION?
During your initial treatment, our certified physiotherapists or registered acupuncturists will conduct a comprehensive evaluation to assess your overall health and determine the best course of treatment. The actual treatment may involve inserting needles at specific points on your body, based on your specific needs and condition.
IS ACUPUNCTURE OR DRY NEEDLING PAINFUL?
While everyone’s experience is different, most of our clients report feeling minimal discomfort during treatment. Some patients may feel a slight ‘prick’ as the needle is inserted, followed by a sensation of warmth, tingling, heaviness, or pressure at the treatment site.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
The number of sessions needed varies from client to client, depending on their condition and how they respond to treatment. Your physiotherapist or acupuncturist will discuss your treatment plan with you during your initial assessment.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR MY APPOINTMENT?
We recommend wearing loose and comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area of your body to be treated.
CAN I EXERCISE AFTER MY TREATMENT?
While light physical activity is generally fine, we recommend avoiding strenuous exercises for at least 24 hours post-treatment to allow your body to adjust and recover.
WHAT ARE THE POTENTIAL SIDE EFFECTS OF ACUPUNCTURE OR DRY NEEDLING?
Most clients experience little to no side effects. However, some may experience mild soreness or bruising at the needle site, fatigue, or a temporary increase in symptoms. These reactions are typically temporary and should subside within 24-48 hours.
CAN I RECEIVE TREATMENT IF I'M PREGNANT?
If you are pregnant or trying to conceive, it’s crucial to inform your therapist. Certain acupuncture points should be avoided during pregnancy, and your treatment might need to be adjusted accordingly.
