— EARLY ACCESS TO PHYSIOTHERAPY
EAPP: start physio the day you're injured.
WorkSafeBC's Early Access to Physiotherapy Program (EAPP) lets workers with accepted sprain and strain injuries access physiotherapy from the day of the injury. You do not have to wait for a formal claim decision to begin.
EAPP covers up to 16 physiotherapy sessions over six weeks. Early, active care for sprain and strain injuries consistently improves outcomes and shortens recovery time compared to waiting.
To access EAPP, your employer must have reported the injury to WorkSafeBC and you need a claim number. Bring that number to your first appointment and we take it from there.
— KINESIOLOGY UPDATE (APRIL 2026)
Kinesiology is now approvable under accepted claims.
As of April 1, 2026, WorkSafeBC has expanded what is approvable under accepted claims. Kinesiology sessions and physical therapist support worker (PTSW) sessions can now be approved as part of a treatment plan for accepted WorkSafeBC claims.
This is a meaningful change for workers in the later stages of recovery, where building functional strength and capacity is the primary goal. If kinesiology is appropriate for your recovery, your physiotherapist can request approval through your case manager.
WHAT CHANGED IN APRIL 2026— HOW IT WORKS
How a WorkSafeBC physiotherapy claim works.
- 01
Report the injury.
Your employer reports the injury to WorkSafeBC. You can also file a worker report directly. This generates your WorkSafeBC claim number.
- 02
Book physiotherapy.
Call or book online with your WorkSafeBC claim number. Under EAPP, you can begin the day of injury for sprain and strain claims.
- 03
First appointment.
Your physiotherapist assesses the injury, begins treatment, and sets a return-to-work plan. We file required WorkSafeBC reports on your behalf.
- 04
Continue until cleared.
Treatment continues in coordination with your WorkSafeBC case manager until you are cleared for full duties or transferred to a longer-term program.

— COMMON QUESTIONS
WorkSafeBC physio, answered.
- What is WorkSafeBC and who does it cover?
- WorkSafeBC (WSBC) is BC's workplace injury insurer. It covers workers who are injured on the job or who develop a work-related illness. It is entirely separate from ICBC, which covers motor-vehicle crashes. If you were injured at work, your claim goes to WorkSafeBC. If you were hurt in a car accident, it goes to ICBC. If you were driving for work when the crash happened, both may be relevant.
- What is EAPP?
- EAPP stands for Early Access to Physiotherapy Program. Under EAPP, workers with accepted sprain or strain injuries can access physiotherapy from the day of injury — without waiting for a formal WorkSafeBC case decision. EAPP covers up to 16 physiotherapy sessions over six weeks for accepted claims.
- Does the worker pay anything for WSBC physiotherapy?
- No. For accepted claims, the clinic bills WorkSafeBC directly. The worker pays nothing at the desk for approved treatment. If any service falls outside your approved claim, we tell you in writing before you book.
- How does a WorkSafeBC claim start?
- The claim is filed through your employer. Your employer reports the injury to WorkSafeBC, and you may also file a worker report separately. Once the claim is accepted and you have a claim number, you can book physiotherapy and we bill WorkSafeBC directly. In some cases, you can access EAPP even before the formal claim decision is made.
- Can I choose my own clinic for WorkSafeBC physiotherapy?
- Yes. Workers have the right to choose their own healthcare provider. You do not have to use a clinic chosen by your employer. Bring your WorkSafeBC claim number to your first appointment and we set up direct billing.
- Does WorkSafeBC cover kinesiology?
- As of April 1, 2026, kinesiology sessions and physical therapist support worker (PTSW) sessions are now approvable under accepted WorkSafeBC claims. This is a change from the previous policy. If kinesiology is part of your treatment plan, your physiotherapist can request approval as part of your ongoing care.
- What if my WorkSafeBC claim is not accepted?
- If your claim is not accepted, you can appeal the decision through WorkSafeBC's review process. While an appeal is pending, the cost of treatment is not automatically covered. We can discuss private-pay options or whether extended health benefits apply in the meantime.
- Is WorkSafeBC physiotherapy the same as regular physiotherapy?
- The treatment is the same standard of physiotherapy. The difference is in the billing, reporting, and documentation. WorkSafeBC requires regular progress reporting from your physiotherapist to your case manager, and treatment goals are framed around return to work alongside overall recovery.
- What is the difference between WorkSafeBC and ICBC physiotherapy?
- WorkSafeBC covers injuries that happen at work. ICBC covers injuries from a motor-vehicle crash. The two are separate systems with different claim forms, coverage rules, and timelines. Our guide explains how to tell which one applies to your situation.
- Can I access WorkSafeBC care at any Launch Rehab studio?
- Yes. Launch Rehab is a WorkSafeBC-accepted provider at all five studios: North Burnaby, Coquitlam, Richmond, New Westminster, and Lougheed. Book at whichever location is most convenient for home or work.
