George Gao

BKIN, MPT (HE/HIM/HIS)

George is a bilingual physiotherapist fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese. He holds a Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) and a Bachelor of Kinesiology (BKin) from the University of British Columbia (UBC), along with an Orthopedic Level 1 certification. He has a strong background in strength and conditioning, having worked as an undergraduate assistant at the UBC varsity gym, where he trained the UBC baseball team and men's field hockey team, including working with Olympic-level athletes.

George has a particular interest in sports and orthopaedic physiotherapy, including the assessment and treatment of basketball-related injuries, running-related injuries, and strength- and conditioning-based rehabilitation. His clinical interests also include neck pain, low back pain, shoulder injuries, ankle injuries, and general musculoskeletal conditions. His approach emphasizes functional movement, injury prevention, progressive loading, and performance-oriented rehabilitation.

In his physiotherapy practice, George works with both adult orthopaedic clients and pediatric populations, including children with complex neurological presentations. He has experience across private and public healthcare settings, treating individuals recovering from sports injuries, post-surgical conditions, and chronic musculoskeletal pain, as well as supporting pediatric clients with developmental and neurological needs.

George's treatment philosophy combines hands-on therapy, individualized exercise prescription, and education, with the goal of helping clients build confidence, resilience, and long-term self-management skills.

Outside of the studio, George enjoys playing basketball, running, cycling, and strength training. His personal passion for movement and sport continues to shape his evidence-based, active approach to rehabilitation.
