HOW IT WORKS

Your first WorkSafeBC visit, step by step.

  1. 01

    Report and book.

Your employer reports the injury to WorkSafeBC. Once you have a claim number, call or book online with the Lougheed studio.

  2. 02

    First assessment.

Your physiotherapist assesses the injury, screens for anything that needs a physician, and begins treatment with a return-to-work plan in mind.

  3. 03

    Ongoing reporting.

We file the progress reports WorkSafeBC requires and coordinate with your case manager until you're cleared for full duties.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Lougheed WorkSafeBC, answered.

Where is the Lougheed studio?
We are on Level 1 of the Residential Podium at the City of Lougheed, next to LifeLabs, above the CIBC on Grande Promenade. Lougheed Town Centre SkyTrain Station is a five-minute walk, with a direct walkway from the mall.
What is the WorkSafeBC Early Access to Physiotherapy Program (EAPP)?
EAPP stands for Early Access to Physiotherapy Program. It is a WorkSafeBC programme that lets workers with sprain or strain injuries start physiotherapy from the day of injury, before a formal case decision. Once the claim is accepted, the Physiotherapy Treatment Period covers up to 10 visits or 5 calendar weeks, whichever is reached first, with extensions available when recovery needs longer. EAPP runs through clinics WorkSafeBC has enrolled in the programme. Being a WorkSafeBC-accepted provider is not the same thing as being enrolled in EAPP, so confirm the current list of enrolled clinics with WorkSafeBC on 1-888-967-5377.
What WorkSafeBC-covered services are available at the Lougheed studio?
Lougheed offers physiotherapy, registered massage therapy, acupuncture and IMS, and clinical Pilates, direct-billed to WorkSafeBC for accepted claims. If your case also needs chiropractic, kinesiology, or clinical counselling, our New Westminster or North Burnaby studios carry those.
Do I need my employer to approve treatment before I book?
No. Your employer reports the injury to WorkSafeBC to open the claim, but once you have a claim number you can book directly. We handle the WorkSafeBC paperwork and progress reporting for treatment under your accepted claim.
Is parking available at the Lougheed studio?
There is paid underground parking by PriceSmart Foods, and the adjacent mall lot offers free parking for up to 4 hours. Many clients arrive by SkyTrain instead, since the station connects directly to the City of Lougheed via a covered walkway.
How long does WorkSafeBC physiotherapy treatment usually run at the Lougheed studio?
Treatment length under a WorkSafeBC claim is set by your case manager, based on the progress reports your Lougheed physiotherapist submits rather than a fixed session count we control. Your physiotherapist reassesses at regular intervals and requests continued sessions when the clinical picture supports it. Ask your case manager what your specific claim currently authorises.
What happens at the Lougheed studio once my WorkSafeBC claim is formally accepted?
Once WorkSafeBC accepts your claim, your Lougheed physiotherapist treats under the standard accepted-claim process and submits progress reports to your case manager as your return-to-work plan develops. We direct bill WorkSafeBC for approved treatment, so there is no out-of-pocket cost to you. Disciplines not offered at Lougheed, such as kinesiology, can be arranged at a nearby Launch Rehab studio through your case manager.
Can a workplace shoulder or back injury be treated with more than physiotherapy at the Lougheed studio?
Yes. Many soft-tissue workplace injuries respond well to registered massage therapy alongside physiotherapy, and acupuncture and IMS are available at Lougheed for muscle tightness that doesn't resolve with exercise alone. Your physiotherapist coordinates which combination fits your accepted claim.
