SHOCKWAVE THERAPY
Shockwave therapy for the tendon pain that refuses to settle.
Radial shockwave for chronic tendinopathies — when the right exercise plan is not yet doing enough.
OVERVIEW
What is shockwave therapy?
Shockwave therapy delivers acoustic-pressure waves into a targeted area of tissue. The mechanical stimulus appears to trigger a low-grade inflammatory response and increase local blood flow, which is what gets stalled tendinopathy moving again. It is not heat, it is not electric shock — it is a focused mechanical pulse.
At Launch Rehab, shockwave is delivered by a physiotherapist as part of an integrated plan. It is used for chronic tendinopathies that have not responded to exercise alone — plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, patellar tendinopathy, greater-trochanteric pain, rotator-cuff tendinopathy, tennis and golfer's elbow.
Most courses run three to six weekly sessions, each 10 to 15 minutes, paired with the loading program that maintains the gains.
BENEFITS
What this work is for.
- Treat chronic tendinopathies that have not responded to exercise alone
- Reduce plantar fasciitis and Achilles pain
- Address rotator-cuff and elbow tendinopathies
- Combine with a loading program for lasting change
- Short sessions, evidence-supported protocol
WHAT TO EXPECT
Your session, step by step.
Diagnosis first
Shockwave is a tool, not a treatment for every sore tendon. Your clinician will confirm the diagnosis and rule out the conditions where shockwave is not appropriate.
Targeted delivery
The applicator is placed over the tender area and a calibrated dose of acoustic pulses is delivered. Most clients describe it as deep, focal pressure — uncomfortable but tolerable.
A series of sessions
Three to six sessions, typically weekly. Many clients feel real change by session three or four — that is the published pattern.
Loading program
Shockwave without progressive loading is incomplete therapy. We pair the series with the exercise side that consolidates the change.

KIND WORDS
What our clients say.
"I’ve been going to Launch Rehab in New West for a few years and I love that they’ve expanded to Lougheed! Been receiving outstanding care from Kevin here with physio, dry needling, and cupping. I appreciate that Kevin is invested in my progress. RMT Tasso has also been fantastic and they talk to each other to organize my goals of care which is amazing! I’ll always come here as I know I will be well taken care of."

FAQ
Frequently asked questions.
It is uncomfortable. The intensity is dialled to a level that creates the therapeutic stimulus without overwhelming you. Most clients tolerate it well; we always start lower and progress.
