Care for SFU & UniverCity.

Burnaby Mountain carries two communities at its summit: Simon Fraser University's main campus, and UniverCity, the residential town that has grown up beside it. The people here are students, staff, and young families, and the care it brings in is active and injury-led — sport, gym, climbing, and running overuse, plus the load of a steep daily commute up and down the mountain.

The nearest Launch Rehab studio is at the bottom of the hill's transit line: the 145 bus drops at Production Way-University, which is one SkyTrain stop from Lougheed Town Centre, beside the studio. It is the flagship Launch Rehab space, with a full strength floor and running assessment for getting back on the trails.

WHAT WE OFTEN SEE FROM SFU & UNIVERCITY

The cases the Lougheed team handles most.

  • Sport, gym, and weight-room overuse injuries
  • Running, climbing, and trail overuse from Burnaby Mountain
  • Knee and hip load from the steep daily mountain commute
  • Post-motor-vehicle-accident recovery through ICBC
  • Running assessment and return-to-sport progression

These are the presentations we see often from this area — not a diagnosis. The decision to treat happens in clinic, after an assessment with a regulated practitioner.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

SFU & UniverCity & the Lougheed studio.

  • How do I get to the studio from SFU or UniverCity?

Take the 145 bus down to Production Way-University Station, then ride one stop east on the Millennium Line to Lougheed Town Centre — the studio is a short walk from there. The R5 RapidBus is the alternative down the Hastings side.

  • Do you do running assessments?

Yes. Lougheed is one of our running-assessment studios. For Burnaby Mountain's steep grades, we look at load tolerance and gait, then build a return-to-running plan staged on how your symptoms respond.

  • Can I get an appointment around class or work hours?

Yes. The Lougheed studio runs evening appointments, and the one-stop SkyTrain connection makes it easy to fit a session in. After-work and after-class slots book out several days ahead, so booking early helps.

  • Do I need a referral to book physiotherapy?

No. You can see a physiotherapist in BC without a referral. Some extended health and student plans require one before they reimburse, so check your plan first.
