CLINICAL COUNSELLING IN NORTH BURNABY

Why clients in North Burnaby choose us.

Clinical counselling at our North Burnaby studio, in the Heights on Hastings Street, is delivered by Rita Fung, a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). Clients come in for the mental-health side of injury and chronic pain (post-MVA distress, fear of movement, the toll of a long recovery), and just as often for anxiety, depression, grief and loss, burnout, and relationship or life-transition challenges unrelated to any physical injury.

Rita holds a Master of Counselling from Trinity Western University and works to the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) code of ethics. Sessions draw on interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, emotionally focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), EMDR, and expressive-arts approaches, matched to what you bring in rather than a fixed program.

Free on-site parking on Hastings Street makes it simple to keep a weekly or biweekly counselling appointment without hunting for street parking.

"I had such a great experience at Launch Rehab, especially with Wen. When I first started treatment, I couldn’t even raise my right arm because of my shoulder injury. Wen was incredibly caring, responsible, and professional throughout my recovery. He really took the time to understand my condition, listen to my concerns, and guide me through the recovery process with so much patience and care. Not only is he excellent at what he does, but his kindness and supportive personality made a huge difference in my experience. The entire clinic is wonderful as well. The front desk staff are always friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I’m truly grateful for all the care I received and would highly recommend Wen and Launch Rehab to anyone looking for a professional, caring, and supportive rehabilitation clinic! ❤️"

FAQ

Clinical Counselling in North Burnaby: questions.

Do I need a referral to see a counsellor in North Burnaby?

+

No. Clinical counselling is direct-access, so you can book without a doctor's referral. A small number of extended health plans require one for reimbursement, worth a quick check with your insurer before your first session.

Is clinical counselling in North Burnaby covered by insurance?

+

Many extended health plans, including Pacific Blue Cross, Sun Life, Manulife and Canada Life, cover Registered Clinical Counsellor sessions up to your plan limit, though counselling is typically pay-at-time-of-visit with a receipt for you to submit rather than direct billed. ICBC pre-approves counselling for accepted post-MVA claims, and WorkSafeBC approves it case by case.

How much does a clinical counselling session cost in North Burnaby?

+

A 50-minute session with a Registered Clinical Counsellor is $175, effective April 1, 2026. Full current pricing across every service is listed on our /rates page.

What is the difference between a Registered Clinical Counsellor and a psychologist?

+

A Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) holds a master's degree and is a member of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. A psychologist holds a doctoral degree, is regulated by the College of Psychologists of British Columbia, and can perform formal psychological assessment and diagnosis, which is outside an RCC's scope. For most talk-therapy work the two overlap; psychological testing is where you need a psychologist specifically.

Is counselling confidential?

+

Yes, within the standard legal exceptions every regulated counsellor discloses at the start of care: risk of imminent harm to yourself or others, abuse of a minor, and a court subpoena. Outside of those, what is said in the room stays there.

How long does counselling take to help?

+

It depends on what you're working on. Some clients feel steadier after a handful of sessions focused on a specific stressor; trauma work, grief, or longer-standing patterns usually take months of weekly or biweekly sessions. Your counsellor will talk through a realistic pace with you rather than promise a fixed number of visits.

Can I book counselling alongside physiotherapy at the North Burnaby studio?

+

Yes. Counselling and physiotherapy run as separate appointments and separate disciplines, but sharing one studio means your counsellor and physiotherapist can coordinate care when a physical injury and its mental-health impact are tangled together, such as after a motor vehicle accident.
