TMJ THERAPY IN NORTH BURNABY

Why clients in North Burnaby choose us.

TMJ physiotherapy in North Burnaby for jaw pain runs out of our Heights studio, serving Hastings, Capitol Hill, Brentwood, and parts of East Vancouver that drive in along Hastings Street. The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) sits right in front of each ear, which is why jaw trouble so often turns up as ear fullness, headaches, or pain that spreads down into the neck.

Care is led by physiotherapists with training in the jaw, working to the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC scope: hands-on treatment of the jaw and neck, gentle mobility work, and a short home program. Our RMTs and chiropractor share the studio, so soft-tissue and neck treatment can be added when the jaw is pulling on those areas.

We cannot guarantee a cure, but treatment can help reduce jaw pain and the ear, head and neck symptoms that ride along with it, and improve how the jaw moves. When a night guard or bite check is needed, that stays with your dentist and we coordinate.

Free on-site parking and easy Hastings Street access make repeat jaw appointments simple, with no meters to feed between visits.

FAQ

TMJ Therapy in North Burnaby: questions.

Is there free parking at the North Burnaby studio for TMJ appointments?

+

Yes, free on-site parking with no meters, plus plenty of street parking on Hastings if the lot is full. That makes it easy to come back for the repeat visits that jaw treatment usually needs.

Can jaw problems really cause my ear pain, headaches and neck pain?

+

They can. The jaw joint sits right beside the ear, and the muscles that move it connect up into the head and down into the neck. That is why TMJ trouble often shows up as ear fullness, tension headaches or migraines, and neck pain. Treatment aims at the jaw and neck together so those linked symptoms have a chance to settle.

Is TMJ care covered by ICBC or my extended health plan?

+

If your jaw pain began after a car crash, it is covered under ICBC's pre-approved physiotherapy, with no referral needed; bring your claim number and we direct bill. Extended health plans (Pacific Blue Cross, Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Green Shield and others) are direct-billed up to your plan limit. MSP only covers a limited number of visits for people on Premium Assistance.

Do you have to work inside the mouth, and do I still need a dentist?

+

Intraoral work, gentle treatment with a gloved finger inside the mouth, is optional and only done with your consent; many people improve without it. A physiotherapist treats how the jaw and neck move, while a dentist checks the bite and makes a night guard for grinding. We do not make guards or adjust the bite, so we coordinate with your dentist when that is needed.
