KNEE PAIN & ACL PHYSIOTHERAPY IN LOUGHEED
Why clients in Lougheed choose us.
Knee problems range from a swollen joint after a twist to a torn ligament that needs months of structured rebuilding. Our Lougheed studio is the flagship space, with a full gym floor, so knee rehab can run all the way from settling that first swelling to the strength and return-to-sport work an ACL or meniscus injury needs.
Care is led by physiotherapists working to the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC scope. The first visit is an assessment: we test the ligaments and kneecap, check strength and swelling, and screen for injuries that need a surgeon or imaging, then build a graded plan. We see a lot of Burnaby Mountain runners and weekend athletes, so the plan is built around getting you back to your activity, not just out of pain.
A full gym floor on site and evening slots to 8pm make it easy to run knee strength and return-to-sport work around a workday.

KIND WORDS
What Lougheed clients say.
"After seeing different physiotherapists and chiropractors for over 10 years, I can confidently say Byron is one of the best physiotherapists I’ve worked with. From my very first appointment, he established that the goal wasn’t just to treat my pain temporarily, but to build a strong foundation so my back could heal properly for the long term. He took the time to thoroughly assess my condition and explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. For the first time, I truly understood why I was experiencing my symptoms and what the recovery process would look like. What really sets Byron apart is how thoughtful and patient he is. He always explains the purpose behind every exercise and how each one fits into my recovery plan. If an exercise feels too difficult or aggravates my symptoms, he genuinely listens to my feedback and quickly modifies the exercises so I can continue progressing safely. I never feel like my concerns are dismissed, and I always leave each session feeling informed, heard, and supported. After just one month of following his treatment plan, I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my back pain, strength, and confidence with movement. Although recovery will still take time, it’s been incredibly encouraging to regain a sense of control and independence in my daily life. It’s reassuring to see real progress after struggling with recurring back issues for so many years. Another thing I really appreciate is the teamwork at the clinic. If I’m unable to see Byron for one of my appointments, he collaborates closely with the another physiotherapist (Harleen) and thoroughly communicates my condition, treatment progress, and goals. Because of this, I never feel like I’m starting over with someone new. It’s reassuring to know I’ll receive the same high quality of care regardless of who I see. Overall, I’ve had a positive experience at Launch Rehab. If you’re looking for a physiotherapist who takes the time to educate you, creates a personalized recovery plan, and genuinely invests in your recovery, I highly recommend Byron. The quality of care I’ve received has been exceptional, and I’m incredibly grateful for his help."

FAQ
Knee Pain & ACL Physiotherapy in Lougheed: questions.
Do I need a scan or referral before knee physio in Lougheed?
+
No. Physiotherapy in BC is direct-access, so you can book without a referral. Many knee problems do not need a scan to start rehab. We screen for the injuries that do need imaging or a surgeon, such as a suspected full ACL tear or a locked knee, and refer you on if that is the case.
Can you handle ACL return-to-sport testing here?
+
Yes. The flagship gym floor lets us run strength and hop testing before clearing higher-risk activity, so return to cutting and pivoting sport is staged on how the knee performs, not on time alone.
I twisted my knee playing sports on Burnaby Mountain, when should I come in?
+
Come in within a few days if you can put weight on it and the swelling is manageable. If the knee locks, gives way repeatedly, or you cannot bear any weight at all, get it checked by a physician or at urgent care first, then bring us the findings so we can build the rehab plan around them.
How much does knee physiotherapy cost at Lougheed, and is it covered?
+
The 2026 private-pay rate is $170 for the 60 minute initial assessment and $105 per 30 minute follow-up, listed in full on our /rates page. ICBC-approved knee injuries are covered at no charge, MSP-eligible clients pay a reduced rate, and most extended health plans are direct-billed up to your plan limit.
How long does ACL rehab take at Lougheed?
+
Timelines vary with the injury and whether surgery is involved, but a structured ACL reconstruction program commonly runs 9 to 12 months from surgery to full return-to-sport clearance, with strength and hop testing gating each stage. Non-surgical knee rehab for a stable ACL injury or a meniscus tear is often shorter, typically 8 to 16 weeks depending on how the knee responds.
What is the difference between a physiotherapist and a kinesiologist for knee rehab at Lougheed?
+
A physiotherapist, regulated by the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC, does the initial assessment, diagnoses what is driving the knee pain, and builds the treatment plan. A kinesiologist, a BC Association of Kinesiologists member, then runs the loading and strength program on the gym floor as the knee progresses. Both work from the same Lougheed studio, so the handoff between assessment and conditioning happens without a second referral.
Can I book knee physiotherapy at Lougheed in the evening?
+
Yes. The studio is open until 8pm Monday to Friday, which suits Burnaby Mountain trail runners and weekend athletes fitting rehab around a workday. Evening slots book out 5 to 7 days ahead, so it is worth booking your next session before you leave the current one.
Do I need a referral to see a knee specialist physiotherapist at Lougheed?
+
No. Physiotherapy is direct-access in BC, so you can book a knee assessment without a doctor's referral. If your assessment points to a problem needing a surgeon, such as a complete ligament rupture or a locked knee, we refer you on and continue rehab alongside that care.
