SPORTS PHYSIOTHERAPY & REHAB IN NEW WESTMINSTER

Why clients in New Westminster choose us.

Sports physiotherapy and rehab in New Westminster runs from our studio at the Shops at New West. It serves Sapperton, Brow of the Hill, Queen's Park, Uptown and Quayside, and athletes who commute in from Burnaby and South Vancouver. The injuries we see are sprains, muscle strains, tendon pain, knee injuries and overuse pain, and the first visit is an assessment of what is loading the injured area.

Care is led by physiotherapists licensed by the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC. Their profiles describe a range of sports experience. Alex Carrod's profile lists ACL reconstruction rehab and running and cycling injuries. George Gao's profile lists sports and orthopaedic physiotherapy, basketball and running injuries, and strength and conditioning. Gurpreet Panesar's profile lists sports-related injuries.

The studio has a gym floor with a squat rack, a bike and a turf strip, so the loading stage of rehab happens during your visit. For general aches without a sport link, see our New Westminster physiotherapy page. For soft-tissue work around an injury, see our New Westminster registered massage therapy page.

Our largest clinician roster and a gym floor in the same studio make it easy to fit sports rehab around training and work.

"I’ve been working with Alex for physiotherapy due to sciatica that flares up when I work. Under his guidance, I’ve been focusing on building strength in my legs, hips, and overall body to support my condition. Alex has a great balance in his approach. He doesn’t over-coddle, but he also never pushes me beyond what my body can handle. Each session feels thoughtfully adjusted to my condition that day, which has helped me build strength with confidence and consistency. I also really appreciate how creative his exercises are. He uses a variety of tools and comes up with different ways to challenge the body, which keeps the sessions engaging and effective. On top of that, he’s very friendly and easy to work with, which makes a big difference when dealing with ongoing pain. I’ve also received dry needling treatments from Alex, and the results have been amazing. After each session, my lower back feels incredibly light and free. I honestly love his dry needling sessions and find them extremely effective. I’m very grateful for Alex’s support and would highly recommend him to anyone dealing with pain or looking for a thoughtful, well-balanced physiotherapist."

FAQ

Sports Physiotherapy & Rehab in New Westminster: questions.

Where is the sports physiotherapy studio in New Westminster?

+

Our New Westminster studio is at the Shops at New West, a short walk from Westminster Pier Park and Tipperary Park. Parking is available at the New Westminster SkyTrain Station parkade and on the surrounding streets. The studio has a gym floor for rehab, so sports physiotherapy and the loading stage of recovery happen in one place.

Who treats sports injuries at the New Westminster studio?

+

Physiotherapists at the New Westminster studio treat sports injuries, and several profiles mention sport. Alex Carrod lists ACL rehab, running and cycling injuries. George Gao lists sports and orthopaedic physiotherapy and basketball injuries. Gurpreet Panesar lists sports-related injuries. Read each profile on our team page before you book.

I had ACL surgery. Can I do my return-to-sport rehab in New Westminster?

+

Yes. Physiotherapists in New Westminster treat ACL reconstruction rehab, and the studio gym floor supports the strength and hop testing that comes before clearing cutting and pivoting sport. A surgeon makes the surgical decisions, and the physiotherapist builds the rehab around them. Our ACL return-to-sport guide explains which tests matter.

Is sports physiotherapy different from regular physiotherapy in New Westminster?

+

Sports physiotherapy in New Westminster is physiotherapy with the plan built around your sport. The assessment, billing and clinicians are the same as our regular physiotherapy visits. The difference is the questions about training load and sport movements, and a return-to-sport stage at the end. Your physiotherapist decides how much of that applies to your injury.

How much does a sports physiotherapy visit cost in New Westminster?

+

Sports physiotherapy is billed as physiotherapy. The private rate effective April 1, 2026 is $170 for the 60 minute initial assessment and $105 for each 30 minute follow-up. Most extended health plans are billed directly up to your plan limit, and MSP-eligible clients pay $147 and $82. The rates page lists the full current prices.

How quickly can I get a sports injury appointment in New Westminster?

+

New Westminster has our largest clinician roster, and most weeks the studio has new-client availability within 24 to 72 hours. An early assessment after a sprain or strain lets the physiotherapist set load limits before you train on the injury again. Book online and choose New Westminster and physiotherapy as the service.

Do I need a referral for sports physiotherapy in New Westminster?

+

No referral is needed for sports physiotherapy in New Westminster when you pay through MSP, extended health or self-pay. A crash claim through ICBC or an accepted WorkSafeBC claim does not need one either. Bring your claim number to the first visit and the client care team bills the claim directly once it is approved.

Can I see a massage therapist and a physiotherapist for the same sports injury?

+

Yes. Physiotherapists and registered massage therapists work from the New Westminster studio and can share one plan. The physiotherapist assesses the injury and leads treatment, and the massage therapist treats the soft tissue around it. Each visit is billed separately, so check the limits on your extended health plan for both services.

This page gives general information. Medical advice and a diagnosis come from a regulated practitioner who assesses you, and that person can confirm what applies to your situation.
