IMS billed as part of a physiotherapy session draws on your physio benefit with extended health, and is covered under ICBC's pre-approved physiotherapy for a crash-related injury. Acupuncture has its own separate benefit category and its own ICBC pre-approval count, tracked separately even on the same visit.

The practitioner takes a history, examines the area involved, and explains which approach fits your presentation before any needle is used. First sessions typically run 30 to 45 minutes including the assessment, with needling itself usually lasting 10 to 20 minutes depending on the areas treated.
